Jeg elsker deg fram til slutten’

Silje and Vidar are a vibrant and attractive young Norwegian couple, who will forever cherish the fondest of memories, generated by their Italian wedding ceremony, which was held this year on a sultry August afternoon.

Silje was simply a stunning Bride and her innate elegance was reflected in her choice of wedding dress, which perfectly reflected her personality. Vidar looked incredibly familiar… and we couldn’t help but point out to the Groom that he bore an uncanny resemblance to the celebrated Italian MotoGP motorcyclist, Valentino Rossi! Vidar gracefully accepted the compliment in the spirit in which it was given.

Silje and Vidar’s ceremony was held in one of the most beautiful castles we have ever seen, steeped in history and intrigue and situated on the outskirts of Florence, high up in the hills above Fiesole. In spite of the altitude the temperature still managed to reach a sweltering 30 degrees! A characteristic ancient stone chapel provided much relief for the wedding party, who were nevertheless enjoying a climate somewhat dissimilar to that of their home country.

We like to encourage couples, who journey to Italy to celebrate the most important day of their lives, to consider vows and readings that are penned in their own language. This is important for a number of reasons, not least because some of the older guests may experience difficulty understanding spoken English and will feel less alienated if they can enjoy the familiar music of their own mother tongue.

For us the opposite is often true… There is something magically mysterious about listening to a non English speaker recite poetry in a foreign language! We especially love it when guests and the couple themselves become moved… It is of course frustrating to be the only people in the room to miss out on the significance of words expressed but we experience the emotion of them through empathy nevertheless.

Music is the language of love of course and transcends all boundaries that impede understanding. We would like to dedicate ‘I Love You ‘Til The End’ by the Pogues to Silje and Vidar, as this was the song they selected to be their signature tune, during the moment which preceded the pledging of their vows. Saying ‘ja’ in the presence of close friends and family, who had travelled the great distance from Norway, obviously meant the world to them.

Every love story has its own musical theme and sometimes a wedding but a true and heartfelt love will endure… until the end.
