The Naked Celebrant

can-stock-photo_csp14833706We decided it was time to express ourselves the way nature intended and bare our souls. This blog is entitled ‘The Naked Celebrant’ because we are revealing a side of ourselves usually kept under wraps…

This is the first in a series of personal reflections and we begin with a fundamental question… ‘to blog or not to blog’.

It has taken us a long time to get blogging again, due to the demanding travel schedule and many hours of scripting work required, for what has been an eventful and inspiring wedding season.
Forewarned is also forearmed and when sitting down again in front of the computer screen to compose the first blog, my fingers instinctively produced the following…‘To blog or not to blog’ …
Reminded appropriately of Hamlet’s soliloquy, I was struck by how true the following lines seem at the moment:

“…that is the question!
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer

The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,

Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,

And by opposing end them?”

So, do we suffer the ‘slings and arrows’ of those who really do not understand what this work is about (but think they do) or do we take arms and defend ourselves and those couples seeking Celebrants and Officiants, who genuinely care and work hard to ensure their ceremony is everything their hearts desire?
Due to recent ‘interesting’ developments in the wedding industry, we have been wondering whether to continue blogging or not… Our readership is not always one that we welcome..
The main message we wish to impart, is that an increasing number of unprofessional ‘Celebrants’ are doing immense harm, not only to the reputation and profession of Celebrancy but also to unsuspecting couples, who are understandably confused.
When you hire a Celebrant you know little about, you take a real risk… ‘You pays your money and you takes your choice.’
So if the Celebrant’s skills and professional persona really matter to you, ensure that you arm yourself with as much information as possible.. ask questions (or should that be naked questions?) until you are satisfied with the answers☺
